Explore the Canadian Rockies Classic hut-to-hut ski traverse, or “the Haute Route of the Canadian Rockies”. This is the must-do spring tour: breathtaking scenery, magnificent glaciers and a comfortable hut system. This 6 day/5 night traverse will take you from Bow Lake on the Icefields Parkway to the Yoho Valley near Field. We will travel on glaciers across the Continental Divide and will be spending 5 nights in Alpine Club of Canada huts.

Our Trips 2026 Bow to Yoho - Canadian Rockies Classic Ski Traverse
  • 1:4 maximum (guide:client ratio)
    (Please inquire for larger groups)

  • Must be able to do full days (5-7 hours) with a heavier backpack. Options to add vert along the way. Must be comfortable with skiing in variable conditions with a bigger pack.

  • We will send you a reminder with a packing list a week before the tour. Your guide will be in touch with you a few days before the trip to answer any last-minute questions and iron out some last-minute logistical issues. Lake Louise is easily accessible from Calgary or Golden. There are commercial shuttles available if you need to arrange transportation.

  • Day 1: Bow hut
    Meet in Lake Louise at 0800, go over gear, sign waivers, and travel to Bow Lake. Companion rescue training (1 hr), travel to Bow hut (3-5 hrs). Crevasse rescue refresher in the afternoon or ski turns on the glacier above the lodge. 

    Day 2: Guy hut
    Travel to the Richard and Louise Guy Hut, with a potential ski descent along the way. 

    Day 3: Guy Hut
    Bag a peak or two around the hut and enjoy some turns with a day pack

    Day 4: Stanley Mitchell hut
    Travel to Stanley Mitchell hut with a few ski descents along the way.

    Day 5: Stanley Mitchell hut
    Full day with a day pack to go bag some peaks in the Little Yoho valley. Return to the hut and relax by the fireplace.

    Day 6: Exit day
    There are a few exit options from Stanley Mitchell hut, with at least 2 of them involving some skiing and beautiful scenery. If conditions don’t allow, we might have to slog out via the Takakkaw Falls road. We will aim to be in Field by early afternoon. Trip debrief and goodbyes.

    • Certified ACMG Ski Guide + guides expenses (with Liability insurance, Parks Permit and Work Safe coverage) 

    • 5 x ACC hut overnight fees

    • 5 x dinners and breakfasts (starting with dinner on day 1) 

    • Porter services to Stanley Mitchell hut for the last 2 nights of the trip

    • Glacier travel safety equipment

    • Group emergency equipment (rescue toboggan, first aid kit, satellite communication device)

    • Pre-trip checklist for a safe and enjoyable backcountry skiing experience

    • Ski touring/split boarding equipment including skins

    • Avalanche rescue equipment (transceiver, probe, shovel)

    • Skins

    • Helmet

    • Lunches

    • Beverages (you must bring your own coffee, tea, drink mixes)

    • Transportation to and from the trailhead

  • Complex: Big glaciers, Big terrain, Alpine runs.
