Backcountry Skiing in Rogers Pass

Rogers Pass has it all: magnificent scenery, giant peaks, vast glaciers, big lines, bigger couloirs, tree skiing and pillows. For this place, we recommend you allot at least 2 days as there is no shortage of ski lines and valleys to explore. It is a big place, and it requires a high level of fitness to get to the goods. Not recommended for novice skiers/riders.

Our Trips Backcountry Skiing in Rogers Pass
  • Intermediate to advanced level: Must be able to do at least 1000m vertical.

  • Simple to complex, from mellow runs, to steep couloirs, glaciers

  • We will send you a confirmation email with a packing list after we receive full payment. Your guide will be in touch with you at least one day before the trip starts. This is to answer any last-minute questions and to give the guide a better idea of what exactly you are looking for from your day. You can stay in Golden or Revelstoke, both of which are about 60 minutes away from Rogers Pass.

  • We will meet at 0730 at the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre. We will go over the waivers, assumptions of risks, and hazards associated with the specific tour. We will go over the trip plan, forecasted weather, current and forecasted avalanche conditions and avalanche hazard. We will check the gear and head out into the field by 08:30.  Every guest will be given a companion rescue refresher, which could be 15 mins or 1 hr, depending on your experience and proficiency with the avalanche rescue gear. Afterward, we will continue with the daily objective (think 5-7 hours, 1000m+ vert).  We plan on being back at the car no later than 1600.

    • Certified ACMG Ski Guide (with Liability insurance, Parks Permit and Work Safe coverage) 

    • Glacier travel safety equipment

    • Group emergency equipment (rescue toboggan, first aid kit, satellite communication device)

    • Pre-trip checklist for a safe and enjoyable backcountry skiing experience

    • Ski touring/split boarding equipment, including skins

    • Avalanche rescue equipment (transceiver, probe, shovel)

    • Helmet, water, food for the day

    • National Parks Pass (can be purchased that morning at the Discovery Centre)
